| Beaches Sydney is blessed with exceptional beaches and
waterways.
The most beautiful of all however lie to
the north of the harbour.
The 30 kilometre stretch of coast from the
entrance of Sydney Harbour to Barrenjoey Lighthouse at Palm Beach in the north is known as
the Northern Beaches.
To the west are vast areas of National Park
and bushland. To the east the South Pacific Ocean with its string of sandy beaches
punctuated by bold sandstone headlands. The sand is yellow/white in the south, becoming
progressively more golden as you travel north.
