This artistically curving property on The Rocks foreshore is without a doubt the best-positioned hotel in Sydney. It's literally right on the water, with some rooms having fantastic views directly across the harbor to the Sydney Opera House. Its location and general appeal mean it's usually full and frequently has to turn guests away. The room rates have rocketed here in the last year or so; unless you are really looking for a splurge, there are plenty of places around that are far cheaper and just as good, if not better overall.

The building itself is a pleasure to look at, and from a ferry on the harbor it looks like a wonderful addition to the toy-town feel of The Rocks. The marble lobby is elegant, and every possible luxury has been incorporated into the rooms. Room rates here really depend on views; the least expensive units have only glimpses of the harbor. Each of the 33 executive suites has two balconies with a telescope.

Dining/Entertainment: Verandah on the Park offers good buffet food either indoors or in a fabulous location on the edge of the harbor. No. 7 at the Park is more formal and has excellent harbor views. The bar has a fireplace and resembles an English club.
