This white-stucco Bondi landmark is adequate for a few days' stay if you don't mind the creeks of the vintage wooden elevator and the brusque front-desk service. The corridors are generally in need of a lick of paint, and the rooms are slighty disheveled, but overall it still retains a fairly healthy slap of 1920s grandeur. Double rooms are basic and small, with gray carpeting, a springy double bed, a shower, a small refrigerator, and a TV. The six suites are nicer, and have their own balconies looking out to sea. Downstairs there are seven bars, which frequently seem to attract aggressive drunks. Given the choice (Bondi hotels are often booked well in advance) I'd stay at the far friendlier Ravesi's on Bondi Beach
