during school holidays. Transportation: Somersby is near the town of Gosford,
84km (52 miles) north of Sydney. To reach Gosford by car, take the Pacific Highway and the
Sydney-Newcastle Freeway (F3); the trip takes about an hr. CityRail trains leave from
Central Station for Gosford every 30 min. From Gosford, take the bus marked OLD SYDNEY
TOWN (15-min. ride) Prices: Admission A$18 (U.S.$12.60) adults, A$10.50
(U.S.$7.35) children.
You can spend quite a few
hours on a nice day wandering around this outdoor theme park bustling with actors dressed
up like convicts, sailors, and the like. You'll see plenty of stores, buildings, and ships
from the old days of the colony, and performances are put on throughout the day. It's the
Australian version of an American Wild West-theme town.
