If you have a day to spare, then you might
consider the long trek to Gledswood, sort of theme agricultural property set on 61.5
hectares (150 acres). You can try your hand at boomerang throwing, catch a sheep shearing
demonstration, learn how to crack a stockman's whip, watch working sheepdogs in action,
and milk a cow. The homestead tour is interesting if you're into colonial relics and
architecture, and the gardens are nice (take a hat in summer). A hearty lunch and snacks
are served by costumed staff in the restaurant. You can also sample billy tea and damper
(bread made in the embers of a campfire). You'll come home feeling you've had a good taste
of rural Australia
